Kyocera opens new inkjet test lab in Esslingen
The new facility supplements an existing Kyocera inkjet design center to reinforce support for the European inkjet market.

Kyoto / Neuss − Since February 2015, Kyocera has further enhanced its technical support for the dynamic European inkjet printing market with a new inkjet test lab in Esslingen (near Stuttgart), Germany. This test lab serves as a supplement to the inkjet design center at Kyocera’s European base, which opened in September 2013 to provide technical service for printer and ink manufacturers that are working with market-leading Kyocera KJ4 Series inkjet printheads. The facility has three Kyocera field engineers who provide onsite support and remote technical service to customers.
The inkjet test lab is equipped with a drop watching system which enables observation of drop ejection at a picoliter level. A single pass flatbed printer is also available with a media transportation rate of up to 1,693 mm/sec as well as other related equipment for general experiments and evaluations. Further investments are planned in the near future for the installation of additional printing machines.
Besides the enhanced customer support, the inkjet test lab brings three key improvements for the growing digital printing market:
Since its launch in 2007, the revolutionary KJ4 series inkjet printheads have changed the market for high-speed and high-quality textile printing in close partnership with skilled machine manufacturers, especially in Europe. The establishment of this new lab provides further support for Kyocera’s customer development in the future.
The Kyocera inkjet test lab offers the opportunity of joint testing to parties which are pursuing new and promising applications. As there is a certain demand for digitalization in a variety of industries and an increase in diversified market needs, Kyocera supports the testing of the KJ4 Series for such applications under contract-based agreement.
In addition, the test lab will be utilized for collaborations with suppliers of inks or peripherals for the KJ4 Series. Kyocera has maintained these types of relationships from the beginning of its inkjet business in order to support expanding markets, and with the opening of this new technical facility for joint research and testing, these partnerships will now be taken to a new level.
