Secure printouts with Personal Printing-enabled devices from Kyocera

Cortado and Kyocera Document Solutions extend their cooperation further

17 July 2012

Kyocera Document Solutions, one of the leading providers worldwide of document management solutions and services, and Cortado, the global market leader for printing in virtual environments with its ThinPrint product family, are expanding their partnership to offer secure user-authenticated printing to users. Experts at Kyocera, also a member of the Cortado Cloud Printing Alliance, have developed a client for Cortado´s pull printing solution, called Personal Printing Essentials, for secure user-authenticated printing. Users of HyPAS (Hybrid Platform for Advanced Solutions)-enabled Kyocera printer models can now confidentially print their documents via Personal Printing Essentials by entering a PIN or using an RFID card reader. One of the exclusive features for Kyocera customers is that the basic version of Personal Printing allows them to select the print job at the device. Currently, 18 Kyocera multifunction devices are Personal Printing-ready.

The application provides ease of use and allows users to select the Personal Printing printer driver and print documents in their own Personal Printing queue. When the user wants to begin the printing process, they simply go to the Kyocera printer of their choice, authenticate themselves by entering a PIN or swiping their ID card, select the desired document from their list of print jobs, and begin the printout. Since this is done directly by the user, the document cannot fall into unauthorized hands.

If the user determines that he or she does not need a certain document, they can delete this print job from the printer queue on their desktop.

"We are delighted to be able to continue our partnership with Kyocera and expand into the area of secure printing now too," said Frank Hoffmann, Director Strategic Relationships at Cortado. "With this combination, companies can use their Kyocera printers to print securely, flexibly and lower the costs for paper and toner at the same time."

Sabine Nobel, Software Product Manager at Kyocera Document Solutions Europe, also welcomes further cooperation between the companies. “Users of HyPAS-enabled Kyocera multifunction systems benefit from increased security and flexibility when printing with the seamless integration of Cortado´s Personal Printing solution. Without even requiring additional hardware, organizations now have the perfect opportunity to reduce printing costs, increase security and achieve environmental targets.”

Cortado has certified the Personal Printing client for HyPAS-enabled devices belonging to the TASKalfa series, as well as other Kyocera multifunctional printers.

Cortado´s Personal Printing Essentials and the Kyocera Client can be tested for free for 30 days with their full range of functions. A free demo of the Personal Printing solution is available for download at www.thinprint.com/personalprinting.
