KYOCERA enters second year as Official Print & Copy Partner of IIHF World Championship

Based on the agreement with Infront Sports & Media, the global office document solutions brand acts as Official Sponsor of the 2011 IIHF World Championship, Slovakia.

03 February 2011

Having had its debut last year in Germany, KYOCERA MITA continues its involvement as Official Print and Copy Partner as well as Official Data Sponsor for the IIHF World Championship. The 2011 tournament will take place in Bratislava and Kosice, Slovakia, from 29 April to 15 May 2011. In 2010 KYOCERA MITA Europe B.V. and the international sports marketing company Infront Sports & Media, official marketing partner of the IIHF, had signed a sponsorship and servicing contract for the annual IIHF World Championship.

The Official Sponsor package provides KYOCERA with product category exclusivity and is designed to meet KYOCERA’s marketing objectives. It includes the insertion of KYOCERA’s logo as Official Data Sponsor in the worldwide TV-signal as well as other branding opportunities, such as tickets and VIP hospitality.

Uwe Götze, Marketing Manager of KYOCERA MITA Europe commented: ”A cumulative audience of 735 million for last year’s event in Germany proved that investing in the IIHF World Championship was undoubtedly the right decision. The event fascinates fans around the globe and offers KYOCERA a superb communication platform to increase its brand awareness in traditional ice hockey markets such as Scandinavia and Eastern Europe which are important markets for us.“

Bruno Marty, Infront’s Executive Director Winter Sports, added: “The fulminant World Record Opening Game of the 2010 IIHF World Championship was the best start an Official Sponsor could hope for. It was a big boost for the tournament, enhancing its reach and thus the visibility for all sponsors involved. We look forward to continuing this fruitful relationship with KYOCERA and to jointly delivering an excellent 2011 IIHF World Championship in Slovakia.”

High-quality copy services on-site

As an Official Sponsor KYOCERA MITA will offer a print and copy service for both venues – Kosice and Bratislava – providing copy services to the Organising Committee, the media centre and the on-site offices, 24 hours a day. During the events more than half a million pages will be printed and copied.

Beside KYOCERA the following companies are already confirmed as Official Sponsors of the 2011 IIHF World Championship: Škoda (Cars - Czech Republic; Official Main Sponsor); AJ (Home and office furniture - Sweden); Bauhaus (Home stores - Germany); Boehringer Ingelheim (OTC medicals - Germany); Henkel (Detergents – Germany); Intersport (Sports retailing - Switzerland); Nike (Sports apparel - USA); Tissot (Watches/timing - Switzerland), Raiffeisen International (Bank - Austria); Zepter (Home and kitchen ware, cosmetics, health lamps - France).

KYOCERA and sports

KYOCERA’s sponsorship of the IIHF World Championship is their first big investment in winter sports. Besides the perimeter sponsorship of the 2009 ISU World Figure Skating Championship and the co-sponsorship of the BMW International German Open golf tournament, KYOCERA has mainly focused on soccer. In the past there have been jersey sponsorships with Atletico Madrid, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Atletico Paranaense (Brasil) and FC Reading (UK). The KYOCERA Corporation also owns Kyoto Sanga a leading team playing in Japan’s J-League.
