Top environmental standard for Kyocera Mita Europe

The highest recognised standard for environmental management – ISO 14001 – has been awarded to Kyocera Mita Europe’s headquarters in The Netherlands following an independent assessment. The award for Kyocera Mita Europe B.V. in Hoofddorp covers the environment management systems for “sales of printers, multi-function copiers and related products and service and warehousing of spare parts”.
“Environmental care is at the heart of everything we do, from design and manufacture right through to the operation of printers, copiers and multi-function devices by our customers. We are delighted to have attained this standard and we will continue to improve wherever possible, year on year,” says Takashi Kuki, President Kyocera Mita Europe.
Kyocera Mita Europe has drawn up its own environment policies alongside those of its parent company in Japan – the first production plant in the world to be awarded ISO 14001. The policies include conservation of natural resources, commitment to continual improvement, prevention of pollution at source and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
These are achieved through reduced use of energy and materials, and maximising energy efficiency, and re-use and recycling wherever possible. Staff communications and training also includes environment matters. Environmental controls also include control of facilities and reduction of potentially harmful substances.
“For over 20 years Kyocera products have had environmental friendliness designed-in. The concept of ECOSYS means no waste printer cartridges and we have carried that through the entire process by making sure that even our packaging does not harm the environment,” adds Takashi Kuki.
