Kyocera opens technology centre in Neuss

Kyoto/ Neuss - The Japanese technology corporation Kyocera, a leading manufacturer of fine ceramic products, opens a technology centre for its cutting tools division at the company office in Neuss. The centre is intended for customer training sessions as well as for research and development. Tools for industrial metalworking from Kyocera are used in general and automotive engineering as well as in die and mould industry.

Together with the mayor of Neuss Herbert Napp, the European Head of Kyocera Mitsuru Imanaka took part in the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon to open the technology centre. Kyocera is investing roughly one million euros in technical equipment for the new centre. The company headquarters in Neuss have thus seen the creation of a location to carry out customer training, benchmark tests and basic experiments, where advances can also be achieved in research and development solutions. Thanks to their continual enhancement, Kyocera tools offer far-sighted solutions for existing and future requirements in the cutting (chip removal) industry.

In the technology centre, Kyocera will be exhibiting products for internal and external turning, drilling, milling, tapping and cut off. The centre has a CNC Lathe and a 5-axis machining centre by Okuma. Kyocera will be presenting an Okuma LB 4000 CNC lathe as a hard turning version so that in addition to carbide and cermet grades it will also be able to test ceramic and CBN cutting materials. The high-precision design enables tight tolerances to be met during processing. An accuracy down to four decimal places is achieved during machining. The Okuma MU 400 VA 5-axis machining centre integrates 32 tool positions as well as a high-pressure pump and is thus ideally suited for simultaneous machining on 5 axes even during complex milling assignments.
